Our two self-catering cottages- Fianais and Muirneag- were the family homes for the staff who operated the Decca navigation station and are warm and spacious. They are attached to the main house on either side and have large windows that make them exceptionally light with wonderful views to the front (of Fivepenny village and Loch Stiapabhat nature reserve) and to the back (over the machair to the dunes and the sea).
We have painted the rooms, stripped some of the floors back to the natural pine and fitted new fireplaces to make the cottages more comfortable and elegant. They both are, however, still places where families and people who enjoy outdoor activities can feel relaxed and comfortable.
The recent addition of a fire door has given the cottages the flexibility to have two or three bedrooms. We do not insist on full week bookings.
Our minimum charge is £250 for up to three days with two bedrooms or £270 for three bedrooms. For a week in low season the cottages are £440 for two bedrooms or £480 for three bedrooms. Between the last week of June and the end of August a full week costs £470 to £500
Accommodation. Each cottage has three bedrooms, a comfortable living and dining room, a dining kitchen and a bathroom with shower over the bath. They are fully furnished to make your stay cosy and comfortable. There are two bedrooms upstairs each with a double and a single bed to allow for flexibility. Downstairs, there is a twin room. We have a cot and a folding bed.
Heating, cooking and washing. Each cottage has full oil-fired central heating. In addition Muirneag has an open fire and Fianais has a multifuel stove. We can source peat and coal is avaialble locally. The cottages have new electric cookers, microwaves and washing machines.
Garden, storing gear and studio. Each cottage also has a secure private garden with an integral lockable shed where you can store and dry equipment for walking, cycling, surfing, the beach, etc, We are very happy to convert one of the bedrooms to a studio for visiting artists.

Need a really big self catering house? Flexibility is our aim and the two cottages can be linked through the main house to create a large and self contained house for groups or extended families, We can, if required, put beds in the cottage sitting rooms and there is an ensuite downstairs bedroom that can be absorbed into this large house. This will create a nine-bedroom house with sleeping for at least 22 people in comfort and with lots of space. This is totally seperate from the accommodation in the main house where we have a further two guest bedrooms that can be included to add space for up to a further four people. These would be accessed through the main house.
Don't fancy cooking every night? Louise and Pete are very happy to provide meals in the main Decca dining room or to bring dishes to the cottages for you to warm up and serve. We focus on hearty home-cooked food using fresh local produce wherever possible. We can discuss your needs and agree menus in advance. We are happy to cater for vegetarian, vegan and special diets.
